The Oscars. Where should you party?

posted Thursday, 2 March 2006

Ok, if you have been tied up in a Turkish prison, you might not know that the Oscars are on Sunday night the 5th.  Then again if you have been tied up in a Turkish prison, you probably didn't see any of the movies and have no reason to see Brokeback Mountain.

The actual show starts at 8pm, but you can watch the preshow earlier.  I am sure Joan starts her annoying babble somewhere about 2 am the night before and Melissa will be around to add an innane grunt here and there.

I am having a party at my house, but chances are you aren't invited.  We are watching the Oscars on my new 5 food wide projection screen, so we can see all of the stars pores at life size.

You may still need a place to go.  How about joining Murry Hill?

WHAT: 5th Annual Murray Hill Oscar Party
WHEN: Sun 3.05 (6.30 PM doors)
WHERE: Mo Pitkins (34 Ave A)
PRICE: $15

.

WHY:

Celebrate the most glamorous night in Hollywood with MURRAY HILL "the hardest working middle-aged man in show business" as he gives Jon Stewart a run for his money by hosting his 5th Annual Oscar Party in NYC at Mo Pitkins. Murray will be joined by red-hot comedy troupe PUPU PLATTER (featuring MIKE ALBO, JOHN ROBERTS, SANDRA BAULEO, CARY CURRAN, MICHELLE BRILLIANT) as they re-enact favorite scenes from this year’s nominated films. In what has become an Oscar tradition, Murray provides his infamous running commentary during commercial breaks. And this year, the PUPUs and Murray create their own red-carpet...

Sure to get roasted by these downtown derelicts: Johnny Cash, King Kong, Capote, The "Fifty-ish" Year Old Virgin, and hilariously inappropriate rendition of films Brokeback Mountain, TransAmerica's Felicity Huffman, The Grizzly weirdo, and a dazzling and poignant re-enactment (in 3 minutes) of March of the Penguins.

The evening of pure "showbiz" begins at 7:00 pm with Joan River's Oscar Pre-Show and continues with the complete Oscar telecast at 8:00 pm shown on a giant screen, with impromptu performances, impersonations of the nominated stars, movie trivia games and lots of prizes, including a grand prize to the Winner of the Oscar Prediction Ballot! Ballots will be handed out before the show.
PUPU PLATTER

PuPu Platter, a comedic troupe featuring Jon Roberts, Sandra Bauleo, Mike Albo, Michelle Brilliant and Cary Curran, is a winning combination of sketch comedy, stand-up and any other zany antics these loony kids come up with. They've playing to packed houses every Tuesday at Starlight Lounge.Special for the Oscars:
