Power Art
A celebration of the fabulous and the bizarre. Performance genius.
Interactive sculpture. XXXmas holiday greeting.
Mangina (a.k.a. Patrick Bucklew) downtown painter, sculptor, and
performance artist, is best known for his prosthetic genitals, (the
mangina and wenis). Bucklew performs wearing the mangina with his
other inventions, (water filled) bubble head, aloe medallion etc.,
soliciting the audience to come on stage to experience a hands-on
tactile interaction. Mangina also plays original songs with an
accordion or piano, singing about his life. Bucklew will often bring
art and inventions to the show for sale.
Valmonte Sprout is a silent actress and avant-garde dancer with an
eclectic education of movement. She is also a singer, composer, video
artist and flamboyant costume designer. Valmonte has written,
directed and performed in Node be the Atlas, a multimedia play
involving video projections (both live and recorded), original music,
sound collage, and dance. Her characters range from lighthearted and
coquettish, quirky alien, as well as dark, sometimes even demonic
entities. Valmonte has also done a lot of live sculpture, that is,
sculpting on the body using different media, which is usually
interactive.
