The competition comes to an end, so it is time to mention it again! Get out and see those 'staches! Mustaches for Kids, New York's favorite (and quite possibly only) holiday-season mustache-growing charity concludes its follicular fundraiser with the 2005 Sweetest Stache Competition. This event is the jewel in the mustache crown -- a cross between a beauty pageant, costume ball, and police line-up. For the past four weeks, participants (Growers") have been raising money for the Children's Hospital of New Orleans by growing sweet, sweet mustaches. They have suffered indignities, climbed whisker mountains, and resisted the temptations of the razor. On December 15, our 40-plus Growers will assemble to participate in a grueling competition, which will include the all-important Beer Foam Retention Test, the How Does It Feel? tactile challenge, and several other rounds designed to identify the one man who will proudly wear the crown and sash of the Mustache King of New York. Our Growers will be judged by their peers, using scrupulously developed criteria and mustache expertise. Unless you have a time machine or know about some porny subcultures that we don't, this might be your only chance to be in a basement with 40 guys with mustaches. They've been growing mustaches and raising money for the Children's Hospital of New Orleans for the past four weeks. The least you can do is cheer them on and maybe donate some cold cash to the Children's Hospital. And you will also be able to purchase ultra-sweet, multi-colored M4K T-shirts (men's and women's sizes). Proceeds, of course, go to charity. Fontana's
