Just when you thought you had seen it all...

posted Monday, 21 November 2005
New Yorkers can be jaded. We think we have seen everything, and sometimes we ignore the things going on right in front of our faces. Last night, as I walked down the street with friends, we were headed towards the Theater for a New City in the east village. I turned to my friends and said "Hey, check out this scene." They looked, but at first didn't see what I saw. They were looking at the wrong thing, which was pretty hard to do based on what was going on in front of us. Finally, I said "No, look right in front of us." There stood a little old lady in a fur coat with an umbrella, a New York City police officer, and two guys dressed as French mimes. They were have a conversation as if nothing were out of place on the street. I wish I knew what they were talking about. Just when you thought you had seen it all.
