Heavy air

posted Sunday, 31 July 2005
Last night I walked through the dark and moody city on my way to see Greg Araki's disturbing new film Mysterious Skin. On the way, the air was heavy and moist. I had the feeling that I was not in the ususal city I live in. It was as if I was having an out of body experience. I was walking through the city at a slower speed than that of everyone else, and they didn't even notice me. I am sure the fact that I was out until 11 am the night before and slept all day until about 6pm didn't help the situation. It only added to the disorientation I was feeling. When you live in the city, on occasion this happens. You head out, and find out you are out of phase with the world that is moving at its usual pace.

Today, I slept in until 11am. I am trying to get back on my usual sleep schedule so that I can heave back to work tomorrow without falling asleep in the middle of the day. And hopefully also feel that I am moving right along with New York.
