Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

posted Wednesday, 30 November 2005

On Saturday night I saw Dirty Rotten Scoundrels with John Lithgow, Norbert Leo Butz, and Joanna Gleason. The show is large, loud and fun. As a comedic director I once worked with said this about making comedy, "Louder, Faster, Funnier!" That pretty much describes Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. It is not an outstanding work, but the stars make it fun. The music and lyrics are not memorable for the most part, but the cast plays them for all they are worth. John Lithgow and Norbert Leo Butz may be the two men on Broadway who currently most enjoy their jobs. So if you're looking for some escapist fun, this may be the path to take.
